The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi came alive with vibrant colours, sounds, and aromas on 16th September 2025, as H.E. Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand to India, officially launched the Thai Experience Centre (TEC). Conceived as a dynamic cultural hub, the TEC aims to be a gateway for the Indian community, especially students, to discover, engage, and celebrate the essence of Thai culture.
“The TEC is much more than a cultural project. It is, in fact, a living space of discovery,” Ambassador Chavanart remarked in her address. “Our goal is to create an environment where visitors can see, touch, feel, and experience Thailand in an interactive, hands-on, and unforgettable way.”
The Centre is designed to showcase the soul of Thailand through a wide range of cultural expressions, from graceful traditions and lively music to the rich flavours of Thai cuisine. Visitors will be able to take part in interactive workshops, cultural showcases, Thai fusion food corners, and book collections dedicated to Thai studies. Each activity has been carefully curated to reflect the warmth, creativity, and spirit of Thainess.
Highlighting the importance of people-to-people exchanges, Ambassador Chavanart stressed the role of the younger generation in building stronger bilateral ties. “The younger generation, especially students like you, are at the heart of this vision. You are tomorrow’s leaders and perhaps even future diplomats. We hope that the TEC will spark your curiosity, creativity, and interest in Thailand, so that you may carry forward the spirit of India–Thailand friendship into the future.”
The launch event offered guests a glimpse of what the TEC has to offer, featuring a musical performance, a Thai fan-crafting workshop, and a spread of authentic Thai delicacies. The vibrant atmosphere reflected Thailand’s commitment to making cultural diplomacy not only visible but also experiential.
Ambassador Chavanart reiterated that the TEC is not merely a showcase, but “an open space where ideas can be shared, experiences co-created, and Thailand can be felt with all the senses.”
The Embassy has extended a warm invitation to educational institutions across Delhi and the NCR to book visits and participate in this initiative. The TEC, as envisioned, is set to become a centre of learning and friendship, offering Indian students and the wider community a unique opportunity to experience Thai culture firsthand.
As the Ambassador declared the TEC officially open, she concluded with heartfelt pride: “May it become a place where Thailand lives in the hearts of our Indian friends, and may our friendship continue to grow ever stronger and unshakeable.”
