New Delhi played host to a confluence of diplomatic, policy, and academic minds as it celebrated the First Foundation Day of the Chintan Research Foundation (CRF)—a think tank that, in just one year, has established a distinctive presence at the crossroads of ideas, inquiry, and transformative impact. Held at the heart of the capital on 19th June 2025, the occasion also marked the official release of CRF’s inaugural Annual Report, chronicling its foundational milestones, thought leadership, and ambitious roadmap for the future.
In his opening address, Mr. Shishir Priyadarshi, President, CRF, noted, “We believe in reflection that leads to action—Chintan that leads to Prayaas.” Framed by three core thematic pillars—climate change, global trade and economy, and international relations—CRF’s work is defined by its commitment to rigorous research, evidence-led policy thinking, and meaningful collaboration.
Mr. Amitabh Kant, one of India’s leading voices in public policy and governance, lauded CRF’s commitment to actionable ideas. He said, “Think tanks like CRF are critical in a country like India, where complex challenges require interdisciplinary solutions. We need institutions that are not just reactive but anticipatory—those that challenge the status quo and shape the next generation of thinking.”
Drawing from his vast experience at the helm of transformational initiatives like NITI Aayog and the G20 Presidency, Mr. Kant emphasised the need for new-age research institutions to break silos and connect global discourse with grassroots relevance. “India’s rise is not just about growth figures,” he asserted. “It’s about inclusive development, climate leadership, and a voice that reflects the aspirations of the Global South. CRF has the potential to be a torchbearer in this space.”
Adding an entrepreneurial perspective to the discussion, Mr. Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises and a key supporter of the Foundation, spoke of the deeper purpose behind establishing CRF. “We didn’t want to create another think tank—we wanted to create a thinking institution,” he said. “One that doesn’t just comment on the world but helps change it.”
Mr. Adani underlined the importance of long-term thinking in a rapidly changing world. “In business and in public life, the horizon must stretch beyond quarterly results. Climate change, food security, and digital transformation—these are questions that need bold, original thinking. CRF embodies that ambition.”
