Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his New Zealand counterpart, Christopher Luxon, jointly inaugurated the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi on 17th March 2025. The event, recognised as India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, has drawn participants from around the world to deliberate on pressing global challenges.

In his keynote address, Prime Minister Luxon highlighted the growing significance of the Indo-Pacific region, describing it as the world’s most economically dynamic zone. He noted that the region is expected to contribute two-thirds of global economic growth in the coming years and by 2030, it will be home to two-thirds of the world’s middle-class consumers. He also emphasised on India’s central role in shaping this economic future, calling it a key driver of regional and global prosperity.

In his address, he pointed to technological transformation as another major opportunity, stating that both New Zealand and India stand on the brink of a significant shift in their economies and societies. Praising the Raisina Dialogue as a vital platform, Mr. Luxon said it offers a unique annual opportunity for thought leaders from around the world to collaborate on contemporary strategic challenges, particularly those shaping the Indian Ocean region.

The 2025 edition of the Raisina Dialogue is themed “Kālachakra – People, Peace, and Planet”, reflecting a focus on the interconnectedness of humanity, sustainability, and security.

The three-day dialogue, running until 19th March, is witnessing participation from around 125 countries, including ministers, former heads of state and government, military commanders, industry leaders, technology experts, academics, journalists, and strategic affairs scholars. Representatives from leading think tanks and youth delegates are also actively contributing to the discussions.

In its 10th year, Raisina Dialogue has firmly established itself as India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, bringing together global leaders, policymakers, scholars, and industry experts to deliberate on some of the most pressing challenges facing the international community. Organised annually by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the dialogue serves as a premier platform for fostering multilateral cooperation, exchanging ideas, and shaping the global policy agenda.

It is not merely a conference but a strategic forum for multilateral dialogue, where India positions itself as a proactive and responsible global player. The event fosters candid exchanges on the shifting power equations, including discussions on China’s rise, the future of globalization, digital governance, and the implications of climate policies. The presence of leading policymakers from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas highlights the dialogue’s diversity and its role in shaping global narratives.
