Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed and released a commemorative coin to mark 90 years of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) at the opening ceremony of RBI@90, in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister underlined that the RBI has witnessed both the pre and post-independence eras and it has created an identity around the World based on its professionalism and commitment.
He emphasized the importance of coordination of monetary and fiscal policies in the GDP and the economy of the country and the importance of enhancing India’s economic self-reliance over the next decade to mitigate the effects of global issues.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister emphasised the importance of clarity for the targets of the next 10 years. He also pointed out the importance of keeping an eye on the changes brought about by the cashless economy while promoting digital transactions and the need for deepening financial inclusion and empowerment processes.
He highlighted India’s increasing role as a driver of global economic growth, noting its 15 percent share in global GDP growth. He also underscored efforts to enhance the accessibility and acceptability of the Rupee on the international stage.
