On February 10, 2025, the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia (FCC) organised a book release function titled “Indian Parliament: Shaping Foreign Policy”, authored by veteran journalist K.V. Prasad.

The book examines how the Indian Parliament has shaped foreign policy over the past 75 years, influencing India’s participation in global geopolitics.

Dr. Shashi Tharoor, MP, Lok Sabha, was the Chief Guest at the event.

He spoke extensively about India’s foreign policy, particularly its relations with its neighbours and major global powers, including the United States.

Dr. Tharoor, who also chairs the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, addressed a range of questions on Indian foreign policy. He criticised the United States for its handling of undocumented Indian immigrants, particularly those who were deported back to India.

“The way Indians were deported from the US has naturally caused a great deal of anxiety, resentment, and anger in India,” he remarked.

Dr. Tharoor also discussed India’s relations with Pakistan and, in particular, Bangladesh, which he referred to as “the soft underbelly of India.”

Journalists and academics attended the event, which was presided over by Venkat Narayan, President of FCC South Asia.
