Quad at 20: Looking Back, Looking Ahead

On 12th December 2024, the Indian Habitat Center (IHC) hosted a panel discussion on the topic ‘Quad at 20: Looking Back, Looking Ahead’.

The eminent panel included Ambassador Lakshmi Puri, former UN Assistant Secretary-General; Ambassador Mohan Kumar, Dean, Strategic and International Initiatives, OPJ Global University, and former RIS Chairman; Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Dean, School of International Studies, JNU.

QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) is a grouping of Australia, India, Japan and USA, and committed to supporting an open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific that is inclusive and resilient.

The Quad’s positive and practical agenda is focused on delivering outcomes for the Indo-Pacific, in response to the region’s priorities and most pressing challenges, including health security, climate change, infrastructure, critical and emerging technology, cyber security, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, space, maritime security, countering disinformation, and counter-terrorism.

The panel discussion began with an insightful introduction by Dr. Manish Dabhade, Founder of The Indian Futures and Associate Professor of Diplomacy at JNU, and was chaired by Ambassador Bhaswati Mukherjee.

The discussion delved into critical issues shaping QUAD, its geopolitical relevance and how QUAD can reshape the security alignment in the Indo-Pacific.
