The MIICCIA seminar on “Business Opportunities in Malta” highlighted the potential for enhanced economic cooperation between India and Malta. The event provided a platform for high-level discussions on various aspects of the bilateral relationship and showcased success stories that could serve as models for future collaborations. As both nations continue to build on their strong trade ties, such initiatives are crucial for identifying new opportunities and fostering deeper engagement.
On July 10, 2024, MIICCIA held a business seminar in New Delhi titled “Business Opportunities in Malta.” The seminar was graced by Shri Abhishek Singh, Joint Secretary (ED), who served as the Guest of Honor. The event focussed on the evolving India-Malta relations and explored avenues to further strengthen bilateral ties.
The total trade between India and Malta reached an impressive 277.38 million Euros in 2022. India’s export portfolio to Malta includes pharmaceutical products, petroleum products, wheat, organic chemicals, and ceramic products. In return, India imports a range of goods from Malta, including organic and inorganic chemicals, integrated circuits, machinery, and sorted/recovered paper. These trade dynamics underscore the robust economic relationship between the two nations and highlight areas ripe for further collaboration.
H.E. Mr. Ruben Gauci, High Commissioner of Malta to India, delivered an address emphasising the growing relations between the two countries. He highlighted the shared values and economic complementarities that underpin the bilateral relationship and expressed optimism about the future path of India-Malta ties.
Ambassador Sangeeta Bahadur and Ambassador Anil Trigunayat were among the notable dignitaries who shared their valuable insights during the seminar. Their discussions covered a broad spectrum of opportunities and challenges in the India-Malta partnership, focussing on how both nations can leverage their strengths to foster mutual growth and prosperity.
There was also a presentation by Ms. Avani Tripathi, Director of Aahana – The Corbett Wilderness. She showcased their sustainability-driven hospitality enterprise, which has gained fame for its innovative approach to eco-friendly tourism. Ms. Tripathi’s presentation provided an inspiring example of how sustainable practices can be integrated into business models to achieve both environmental and economic success.
