India-Armenia Trade Conference was hosted by IETO on May 24, 2024 at the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO). This occasion also marked the launch of a special report dedicated to India-Armenia relations by Diplomatist Magazine.

Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of IETO, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasising the organization’s commitment to fostering robust relations between India and Armenia. He stated, “We at IETO are committed to fostering relations between the two countries,” highlighting the importance of this bilateral partnership.

H.E. Mr. Vahagn Afyan, Ambassador of Armenia to India, in his keynote address, lauded the special issue by Diplomatist Magazine. He said, “The launch of this special issue by Diplomatist Magazine dedicated to India-Armenia relations is a testament to our enduring friendship and the promising future we envision together.”

“Despite the geographical distance, Armenia views India as a close partner, sharing deep-rooted civilizational ties and historical connections.” The Ambassador emphasized that comprehensive deepening and development of cooperation with India is a foreign policy priority for Armenia. “Both sides are working towards developing multifaceted relations between our two friendly countries,” he noted.

Over the past 32 years, traditionally warm relations and mutual support have continuously strengthened. The last few years, in particular, have seen a tremendous upward trend in the relations between Armenia and India, especially in political dialogue.

Ambassador Afyan also highlighted various areas of cooperation between the two countries, including political dialogue, economic collaboration, and investment opportunities. He underscored Armenia’s business-friendly environment, inviting Indian investors to explore opportunities in his country.

“Foreign investors in Armenia have unrestricted access to invest across all sectors of the economy. They can repatriate profits and exchange foreign currencies freely, with no limitations. Additionally, there are no constraints on staff recruitment, granting foreign investors the flexibility to hire both local residents and compatriots as they see fit,” the Ambassador explained.
