The Embassy of Guatemala in India commemorated the 202 anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Guatemala at The Grand Hotel, New Delhi. Guatemala, an emerging powerhouse in the LAC region, holds a special place in India’s diplomatic landscape.
The evening was hosted by H.E. Mr. Omar Castaneda Solares, Ambassador of Guatemala to India.
There was a display of Guatemalan textiles at the reception. Each piece told a story of tradition, craftsmanship, and the vivid array of Guatemalan life. The intricate patterns and vibrant colours showcased the artistic prowess deeply embedded in the nation’s heritage.
Smt. MeenakshiLekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of India was slated to join as the Chief Guest. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, she was unable to attend the event in person. She sent her warm regards and best wishes to mark this special occasion.
In her absence, the occasion was graced by ShriVinay Kumar, Director (LAC), Ministry of External Affairs, who brought a distinguished presence and added to the significance of the celebration.
As a thoughtful memento, each guest was presented with a small printed photograph featuring them alongside the Ambassador of Guatemala.
The celebration of Guatemala’s Independence Day at The Grand Hotel, New Delhi, served as a poignant reminder of the strong diplomatic relations between our nations. It was an evening marked by cultural exchange, warm hospitality, and a shared vision for a future of strengthened collaboration.
