It was in September 2019, when Indian President Ram Nath Kovind visited Slovenia and held talks with the Slovenian President Borut Pahor and deliberated on the possible partnership between the two countries on a wide range of issues.
“There is good potential to strengthen trade, investment, technology and cooperation. I am hopeful that the fruitful engagements of the business delegation accompanying me with their Slovenian partners will lay down a new path of trade and technology tie-ups,” said President Kovind.
During this visit, both sides signed and exchanged seven MoUs and Programmes of Cooperation in the fields of Investment, Sports, Culture, River Rejuvenation (Clean Ganga Mission), Science & Technology and Standards.
Slovenia is geo-strategically located at the junction of two main European corridors and that the port of Koper could be a good entry point for cargo from India. There are, indeed, many opportunities for economic cooperation between Slovenia and India.
With an aim to continue this dialogue, The Diplomatist is organising an International Webinar “Slovenia at 29” jointly with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia to India on 30th June at 3 pm.
Theme of the Webinar
The main idea of this webinar is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are idea-focused, and on a wide range of subjects, and to provoke conversations that matter in Slovenia-India relations.
