A seminar on Cachaça and Caipirinha: History, Culture and Pleasure of Brazil was organised at the Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi, India. The session was led by Prof. Jairo Martins.

In Brazilian pop culture, cachaça is usually consumed in the form of the beloved caipirinha – a cocktail that mixes cachaça, lime juice, sugar and ice. However, Brazil’s traditional spirit can be pleasant on the rocks, as long as you know the right one to drink.

Cachaça is a sweet, vegetal, and usually, a clear liquid made from fresh sugarcane juice. It’s most similar in taste and style to rum, which is primarily made from molasses, and rhum agricole, which is made with fresh sugarcane juice in Martinique.

If you want to buy a bottle of good stuff, try Taverna De Minas where brewing of the stuff is taken very seriously indeed.

The exclusive collaboration of Aska Beverages with Taverna de Minas will now bring the best Cachaça to India. Aska Beverages is one of the trusted Import houses engaged in sourcing the world's finest liquors and wines.
