Vice President Hamid Ansari to Lead India at the 11th ASEM Summit

Vice President Hamid Ansari will hold a meeting with the President of Mongolia, the speaker of Parliament of Mongolia and Prime minister of Mongolia. The Asia - Europe Meeting comprises of 53 entities that include 51 countries from Asia and Europe and 2 Regional bodies – the European Union and the ASEAN Secretariat."


The 11th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit will be held in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Vice President Hamid Ansari has left for Mongolia to lead an Indian delegation at the 11th Asia- Europe Meeting Summit scheduled to be held on July 15, 2016 with the theme - "20 Years of ASEM: Partnership for the Future through Connectivity." In keeping with the theme, the main focus of the multilateral summit will be on the multidimensional connectivity between Asia and Europe.

Vice President Hamid Ansari will hold a meeting with the President of Mongolia, the speaker of Parliament of Mongolia and Prime minister of Mongolia. The Asia - Europe Meeting comprises of 53 entities that include 51 countries from Asia and Europe and 2 Regional bodies – the European Union and the ASEAN Secretariat. The summit is expected to be dominated by the argument between China and Philippines over the South China Sea. Vice President Hamid Ansari will hold a bilateral gathering with several leaders of participating countries.

In January 2007, India joined ASEM and has since taken part in four earlier summits. President and Prime Minister of 34 countries will be attending the event. President of South Korea Park Geun-Hye, Premier Li Keqiang of China and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are some of the Asian leaders, who are expected to attend. In 2018, the 12th Summit will be held in Brussels.
